1. Dave Elbon - Communication Coordinator
Dave gave the PAC a list of communication tools the City uses.
Facebook, Twitter, City Website, etc. Dave mentioned that if PAC members take pictures when they are
in the City parks and post them on Facebook they can help spread the word about different parks and
activities.
Another way would be for PAC member to take videos at various parks (very short videos) and send
them to him and he can edit, do voiceovers, etc. and post them online and on the website. Since Dave is
a “one man show” he doesn’t have time to go to all events, parks, etc. so he could use the PAC’s help.
Ken Calauti said he will make a video of Rice Lake Park, edit it and forward it to Dave for the website,
Facebook, Youtube, etc.
2. Brooksville Hills/Eagle Creek Estates Park
The Eagle Creek Estates Park is due to be developed, per the CIP, in 2016. With its close proximity to
Brooksville Hills Park staff felt that the two parks should be combined as one with the name Eagle Brook
Park. On May 12th at 7pm at City Hall there will be a neighborhood meeting with all residents 1/3-mile
radius around the park to obtain their input on what amenities they would like in the park. Several
poster boards have been created to show the choices they have based on the amount of money
available for development of the park. They will rate each amenity by importance to them with a
numbering system at the meeting on 5/12. After the 5/12 meeting the PAC will meet on 5/19 to go over
the results. The next neighborhood meeting will be June 2 to bring the results and show the layout of
the park to the residents. The PAC will finalize the layout and process feedback from the neighborhood
meetings at the June 16 PAC meeting. The final design will be brought to the city council in July so
equipment can be ordered and the park development completed by 11/1/16.
PAC members will be in attendance at both neighborhood meeting to address questions or concerns.
3. Review February meeting between PAC and Prior Lake athletic association and surrounding
communities
All members felt the associations appreciated the meetings twice a year and want to continue to have
these meeting in Feb. and Aug. They were disappointed that the City of Shakopee was not represented
at the Feb. meeting. Angie will follow up to see if they can make it to the Aug. meeting. Overall positive
feedback form associations and surrounding communities.
4. Neighborhood Park Parties – PAC role
At each park party this year the PAC will plant 1 tree. The hole will be dug already they will need to plant
and fill in the dirt around the tree.
IN addition, the PAC will hand out pollinators (wild flower seed) packets at each park party while
discussing parks, trails, EAB and more with attendees. Anyone receiving the seed packets will also
receive information on bees and the importance of pollinators in our environment. Each person can take
a picture of their flowers once they have grown and submit the photo to the recreation department to
get their name in a drawing for a prize at the end of the summer. The pictures will be posted on
Facebook and the City website.
Staff will bring flyers for EAB and other items affecting the parks and trails to the park parties each
week.
5. The next PAC meeting will be May 19, 6p.m. in Wagon Bridge Conf. Room
