Mr. John Meyers
5515 Shore Trail NE
Prior Lake, MN 55372
Dear John:
The Prior Lake City Council has made a request of staff to study
the feasibility of the new DNR Public Access being used in the
winter time for ice fishing ingress and egress. The history of
this request is two-fold; 1) Beach Lane (to the east of you) has
been restricted for use, and, 2) there is always a tremendous
amount of damage to Sand Point Beach during the thaw from having
vehicles driving allover.
As part of the access agreement with the residents, the DNR, and
the City of Prior Lake, there is to be a gate at the top of the
access that will be closed at freeze up and opened at ice-out.
This item, as I recall, stems from the neighborhood meetings that
were held to discuss the new public access. The purpose of this
letter is to get your feedback on using the access in the
winter.
John, I would like to have your thoughts and concerns on this
matter so that I can present them to the City Council. This item
is scheduled for a meeting on December 4th, which you are invited
to. However, I would like a written response from you by Monday,
November 27th, so that I can write up the staff report for the
council agenda.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to hear from
you by the 27th.
Sincerely,
~//JIt/J~-
