HomeMy WebLinkAbout11 10 16 CSAC MinutesCommunity Safety Advisory Committee 10 November 2016 Meeting Minutes Attending: Gina Gertner, Betsy Jader, Liz Heile, Pat Dougherty, Linda Ringstad, Chief Mark Elliott. Absent: Woody Spitzmueller, Janine Alcorn, Councilor Keeney Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm by Gina 3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Linda, 2nd by Betsy; approval unanimous. 4. Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve by Pat, 2nd by Betsy, approval unanimous 5. No hearings scheduled. 6. Old Business: Gina provided an update from HOMS re activity in schools destructive behaviors. Rhonda Soukup presents 2nd Step on drug use in all classes; and the Climb Theater provided age appropriate material on gateway drugs during the first week in November. Chief Mark Elliott reported that problems in the high school related to drug use and sexting to be reviewed by city attorney for new policy. Mark will also use staff officers to report on patrol issues when he is not available. 7. New Business Safety related video offered to schools. Mark to email school staff with our meeting dates. CSAC officers for the 2017 calendar year will remain unchanged: Gina – Chair, Linda – V Chair; Woody – Secretary. Approval unanimous. . Discussed the city council annual advisory committee recognition event at 28 November 2016 workshop. All committee will provide summary report of current year activities, and next year objectives. Mark reported on PD activities: training for protests, use of firearms and use of force underway for 3 year renewal of POST licensing. Mark also discussed PLPD use of NARCAN as anti-drug O/D agent ($40 per dose). The month of November will see focused seat belt use enforcement. First crash was reported at the new Hwy 13/150th intersection. PLPD recognized by Office of Traffic Safety for work zone safety efforts. A new police chaplain program is in place. Busy week for PLPD with a suspicious death, juvenile sexting and several sexual assaults. Mark also reported new crime analytics will go up on website using Bair Analytics software. 8. Other Business Mark discussed active shooter incident and new Tazers.. 9. Announcements/Correspondence: None Meeting Adjourned 5:30P, Motion Betsy, 2nd Pat. Unanimous
