Variance Request for 6082 - 150th Street SE
Explanation of Variance request:
< We are asking for a variance to build a pair of stone monuments near the
driveway entrance onto the property.
< These stone monuments were included on the set of blueprints used for the
permit request for the new home being built at this location, ref. attached
detail drawing.
< The size of the monuments is in matching the scale of the new house being
built and the scale of the property.
< The height of the stone monuments will be 6 feet tall plus the height of a
metal cap, which is approximately 18" high, ref. attaebed detail drawing.
< At this height the stone monuments would match the height of the stone
monuments on our neighbor's property located immediately to the East of
this property.
< At a height of 6 feet, we would be better able to mount a security gate for
access restriction onto the property if and when the time came that this
would be required. At a height less than 6 feet, the ability to install a proper
security gate is inadequate.

. As we discussed, since we are not planning to mount a gate or fence to the driveway
monuments at 6082 - 150~ Street SE, we do not know if the variance application I had
submitted to the city is required.
The stone columns we have on our property as you enter the driveway are being used as
an address monument and lighted entry as you enter the property.
We have no plans to add a fence to these driveway monuments.
We would only consider adding a security gate if there was added security needed at our
home, which we do not anticipate being the case any time soon, ffever.
Let me know if you have any questions concm-ning this information.

Dear MT.Lind:
The variance application you submitted for the construction of two monument posts as
part of a driveway security gate (fence) on your property has been determined to be
incomplete as noted in my letter dated July 26, 2002. On August 13, 2002, you faxed a
letter to this office that stated you do not intend to attach a security gate or fence to the
address/driveway monuments located on your property.
Staffhas determined your address/driveway monuments are permitted provided they do
not exceed 6' in height above natural grade and are not used as fence posts. Please be
aware, should you decide to add a gate or fence to the monuments, a variance will be
required prior to the installation.
I will cancel your variance application at this time and the City will return your submitted
fee of $150.00. If you have any questions, please phone me at 44%9854.

Dear Mr. Lind:
The variance application you submitted for the construction of two monument posts as
part of a driveway security gate on your property has been incomplete for 79 days. On
May 16 this office notified you and requested the following information in order to
process your application:
1. Submit a current list of owners and addressed mailing labels for property within 350
feet of your property, certified by an abstract title company.
2. Submit a to scale drawing of the security gate, include the height, for review to
determine any other potential variances that may be required.
Please submit the required information on or before August 2, 2002, or your application
will be returned as incomplete and will not be processed. In addition, your driveway
fence posts are in violation of the fence height ordinance, and your file will be referred to
the Scott Joint Prosecuting Attorney for court action. If you have any questions, please
phone me at 447-9854.
