HomeMy WebLinkAboutCSAC Meeting Minutes 04 12 2018Community Safety Advisory Committee 12 April 2018, Meeting Minutes Attending: Janine Alcorn, Gina Gertner, Woody Spitzmueller, Pat Dougherty, Tracy Miller, PD Chief Mark Elliott Absent: Cole Greenlee, FD Chief Rick Steinhaus, Mike McGuire Meeting called to order at 4:05 pm by Janine. 3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Gina, 2nd by Woody; approval unanimous. 4. Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve by Pat, 2nd by Woody; approval unanimous. 5. Hearings: None 6. Presentations: a. Scott County Sheriff Deputy Spencer Autenrieth - He is the only full-time deputy assigned to recreational safety. o He works on the river and lakes. - There are 2 boats on Prior Lake. o They are getting a new boat with better electronics. - New regulations went into effect. - Minor issues with people not knowing about the new rules relating to towing in no wake zones. - Over 120 rental watercrafts are inspected per year. - There were 70 navigational buoys placed in local water in 2017. Most of those were on Prior Lake. - All deputies go to water refresher training each spring - Scott Count Sherriff received $18,656 in grant money in 2017 to help cover the costs of water patrol. - In 2017 there were: o 5 arrests made for boating while intoxicated. o 97 warnings issued and 2 arrests for not following navigation rules. o 16 calls for boater assistance. b. Future presentations: - Megan Voronyak from The Link will present at the June meeting. - Southern Valley Alliance will be at the July meeting. 7. Old Business: a. Prom Letter - Change signer of the letter from Gina to Janine. - Mark to get the letter scheduled in the paper to print a week before prom. - High school will do a mock crash on April 26. b. Graduation Letter - Change signer of the letter to Cole. - It will be sent home with the students. 8. New Business: None 9. Other Business None 10. Announcements: a. Fire Department Updates - A new fire truck has been ordered. o It will arrive in December 2018. - The city approved purchasing new self-contained breathing apparatus. b. Police Department updates - A Community Service Officer started this week (week of April 9). o Work 25 hours per week. - Records clerk starting next week (week of April 16). - A new officer was sworn in on April 2. o Authorized to have 27 sworn in officers. o There are currently 26 sworn in officers. - TZD – Towards Zero Death o Focus from April 9 – 22 is on distracted driving.  13 tickets were written during two shifts. o Patrol for TZD focus is overtime. o Funded by a federal grant. Meeting was adjourned at 5:30. Motion by Woody; 2nd by Pat, approval unanimous.
