13 April 2017, Meeting Minutes
Attending: Gina Gertner, Janine Alcorn, Liz Heile, Linda Ringstad, Woody Spitzmueller, PD Chief Mark
Elliott, FD Chief Rick Steinhaus.
Absent: Betsy Jader, Kevin Burkart, Pat Dougherty
Meeting called to order at 4:10 pm by Gina. Initially the committee did not have a quorum of members in
attendance however Janine Alcorn did arrive shortly after the meeting was convened which did assure a
quorum of members attending.
3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Linda, 2nd by Janine; approval unanimous.

6. Presentation
Discussed the prom letter which was drafted by Liz Heile. Chief Elliot was invited to address students
prior to the dance by the PLSHS Principal Dave Lund. Prom will be 27 April
Also discussed a letter to the parents, including a reminder of the social host ordinance in Scott County,
prior to graduation which counsels them to control access to alcohol at parties.
Linda mentioned that Dave Lund is retiring and the new principal at the HS is John Bezek. The committee
will work to engage him in more CSAC initiatives.
Woody will check into a CSAC table at the VFW Market (Thursdays starting in June). Committee could
use survey data for engaging residents attending. Linda mentioned ‘pining’ location of residents who stop
by the table. Mark mentioned he may be able to send an officer to discuss use of infant car seats.
Mark discussed safety related issues at the police station and city hall; lack of cameras and no safe zones.
Mark informed us that April 10-23 TZD focus is distracted driving. Drug turn back day is 29 April; 10A
to 2P at the police station.

CSAC members need to advocate for additional police officers as current staffing level is falling behind
neighboring communities.
