HomeMy WebLinkAboutCSAC Minutes 05-11-2017Community Safety Advisory Committee 11 May 2017, Meeting Minutes Attending: Gina Gertner, Betsy Jader, Liz Heile, Pat Dougherty, Linda Ringstad, Woody Spitzmueller, PD Chief Mark Elliottt, Council Liaison Kevin Burkhart. Absentee: Janine Alcorn, Fire Chief Rick Steinhaus Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm by Gina. 3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Betsy, 2nd byPat; approval unanimous. 4. Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve by Linda, 2nd by Gina, approval unanimous 5. No hearings scheduled. 6. Presentation Discussed staffing a table for community safety at the Prior Lake Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 20 2017. Committee members will take two hour blocks as follows: 8 – 10A Gina and Janine 10 – 12P Pat and Besty. Chief Elliott will assist with setup and PPD officer will attend. CSAC table is possible on Thursday, August 20, at the VFW Market. Committee could use survey data for engaging residents attending. Linda mentioned ‘pining’ location of residents who stop by the table. Mark mentioned he may be able to send an officer to discuss use of infant car seats. Discussed the graduation letter for review by Principal Dave Lund. Chief Elliott informed the committee that a new officer will be hired to staff metro drug task force position being partially funded by the SMSC. A new CSO was also hired. Mark also demonstrated the new Community Crime Mapping tool coming on line in June. An intern at the department will run the tool. Residents may register on line for crimes in areas selected (CommunityCrimeMap.com). Chief Elliott mentioned a number of dog/cat problems have been reported on Nextdoor, but not to the PLPD. 7. Old Business: Chief Elliott tasked committee members to develop a list of resources relating to community safety for a group discussion at the next committee meeting. The April TZD focus was distracted driving. Prior Lake cited 1 individual for Distracted Driving and 5 for seat belt violation. Also the PLPD used Narcan to revive a drug overdose on 5 May. 8.
