14 December 2017, Meeting Minutes
Attending: Janine Alcorn, Gina Gertner, Pat Dougherty, Woody Spitzmueller, Tracy Miller, PD Chief

Absentee: Cole Greenlee, Kevin Burkart, FD Chief Rick Steinhaus,
Meeting called to order at 4:11 pm by Janine.
3. Approval of meeting Agenda: Motion to approve by Gina, 2nd by Woody; approval unanimous.
4. Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve by Pat, 2nd by Woody, approval unanimous
5. Hearings:
None
6. Presentations:
a. The all committee meeting on November 20 had a good turnout.
b. The committee members that attended commented that Mayor Briggs complimented our
committee for having a student representative on it.
c. The committee should consider using the communication division to get messages out to the
community form our group.
7. Old Business:
a. 2018 Calendar review
- The committee reviewed the current list of activities on the calendar.
- There was agreement that we should continue doing them in 2018.
8. New Business:
a. 2018 project brainstorming
The committee should continue thinking about what else we can do.
A few ideas where discussed as possibilities:
- In August, have a PLCSAC table at the Business Expo night. We will further discuss this in
June and finalize the plan in July.
- Determine if Safe Harbor has any initiatives that we could support.
o Gina to connect with the person she knows at Safe Harbor
- Southern Valley Alliance support – determine what non-financial assistance we could provide
that would help them with their initiatives.
b. 2018 meeting topic
The committee mentioned these topics to be included at a future meeting:
- 21/13 redo – what are the possible safety concerns we should be thinking about
- MN Student Survey results
- Safe Harbor
- Update from Southern Valley Alliance
9. Other Business
10. Announcements:
a. Club Nomadic information
Club Nomadic will be open 4 days over the super bowl weekend (Feb 1 - 4).
Admission will be $200+, facility will be 3 levels with food/drink services
plus entertainment. Mark estimates there will be some 60 officers
supporting security for the event. Most will be from outside the PLPD,
including Scott County and other metro units
b. Fire Department updates
The department is now seeking 4 replacement volunteer firefighters for 2018.
c. Police Department updates
Mark stated the department will add one new officer during 2018. He stated
that the service calls have increased 18% this year. The department has
little time for crime prevention due to the demands of responding to
public calls.
