PARKS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES
JANUARY 12, 1997
The Parks Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Ron Ceminsky at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 1998.
Members present were Ron Ceminsky, Thea Fluhrer, Tom Reddinger, Bob Rykken, Tom Schutz and Pat Heaney. Kathy Smith
was absent. Staff members present were Paul Hokeness, Director of Parks and Recreation, Chris Esser, Recreation Supervisor
and Lisa Newling, Parks and Recreation Secretary. Tom Reddinger left at 6:30 p.m.
The minutes from the Monday, December 8, 1997 meeting were reviewed.
TOM REDDINGER MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1997 MINUTES. THEA
FLUHRER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Ron asked for the Staff Reports.
Paul stated that the site of the New Library/Dance Studio will be in back of the existing facility, near the front of City Hall.
Bids will be going out this summer. Discussion took place regarding the consulting firm for the Lakefront Park and the Athletic
Park Complex.
A MOTION WAS MADE BY PAT HEANEY TO APPROVE BRAUER AND ASSOCIATES TO PROVIDE DESIGN,
ENGINEERING, AND ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF LAKEFRONT PARK AND
THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY PARK/ATHLETIC COMPLEX. THEA FLUHRER SECONDED THE
MOTION. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Old Business
Paul indicated no news on the Kop's farm.
TOM SCHUTZ MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. THEA FLUHRER SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 12, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maintenance Center.

DECEMBER 8, 1997
The Parks Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Ron Ceminsky at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 1997.
Members present were Ron Ceminsky, Thea Fluhrer, Tom Reddinger, Bob Rykken, Tom Schutz and Pat Heaney. Kathy Smith
was absent. Staff mernbers present were Paul Hokeness, Director of Parks and Recreation, Chris Esser, Recreation Supervisor
and Lisa Newling, Parks and Recreation Secretary.
The minutes from the October 13, 1997 meeting were reviewed.
TOM SCHUTZ MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE OCTOBER 13, 1997 MINUTES. TOM REDDINGER SECONDED
THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED UNANINIOUSL Y.
Ron asked for the Staff Reports.
Chris indicated that the Wavelength will be in mailboxes on Friday, December 12th. The theater trips for all ages is very
popular. We are offering new adult leagues for men and women at the Dakotah Sport and Fitness: Volleyball. Broomball, Boot
Hockey, and Basketball. Chris sent out letters about a month and half ago to all the Community Organizations regarding
sponsoring a recreation activity. So far we have heard from the Lion's Club. They are working out the details.
"..""''lul gave an update on: Kop'sfarm - still waiting for the second appraisal, should have it by the end of the month. O'Loughlin
'operty - will be talking with the council on January 12th regarding this parcel. The committee agreed that this property is the
most ideal property in Prior Lake for the new Community Park. Ponds - light poles will be put up in the next two weeks. Will
be operational for spring. Irrigation is done. Library/Dance Studio - meeting last week went very well. Next meeting is
December 30th at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will discuss the site location for library and design concepts.

New Business
Tom Schutz indicated that the Prior Lake American stated that residents are not responsible for shoveling their sidewalk. Paul
stated that he ordinance says they are. Tom S. thought that the correct information should be submitted to them, also noting
which trails will be plowed during the winter.
Pat Heaney asked Paul H if there was an easement on the Mesenbrink property to finish the trail. Paul H. indicated no
easement was granted yet.
Tom Schutz thought a reminder should go in the wavelength and Prior Lake American for snowmobiles to stay off the park
trails and out of the Parks.
BOB RYKKEN MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. PAT HEANEY SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
