RESOLUTION 25-086 A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A REFERENDUM ON A PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX LEVY INCREASE TO FUND PARKS, TRAILS, AND RECREATION PROJECTS Motion By: Braid Second By: Lake
WHEREAS, the City of Prior Lake is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through investment in parks, trails, and recreational facilities; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS,
the City has developed a long-range vision for parks and recreation through the Park and Trail System Plan, which identifies critical capital improvements and community amenities; and Minnesota Statutes § 475.58 and § 275.065 require voter approval for certain property tax levies that exceed statutory limits; and
WHEREAS,
the City Council finds it necessary and in the public interest to submit to the voters a proposal to increase the property tax levy to fund these improvements.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. A special election shall be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to take all necessary steps to ensure the question is properly placed on the ballot and that the election is conducted in accordance with Minnesota law.
4. The City Manager and Finance Director are authorized to prepare and publish all required notices and to coordinate with Scott County Elections for ballot preparation and voter outreach.
