BACKGROUND: The table below summarizes the proposed equipment expenditures included in the 2026 Equipment CIP. Each unit is planned to be replaced with a similar unit. Preliminary quotes have been obtained from the vendors and all quotes are below the approved CIP amount. The lead time for these larger trucks is often 2+ years from the time it’s ordered to the time it’s placed in service. We anticipate all units will reach their expected replacement interval of 12 years by the time the new trucks are in service. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The 2026 Equipment CIP includes $1,372,000 for the purchase of the equipment noted in the table above. The actual cost for these purchases is expected to be under budget based on recent vendor quotes. Although orders will be placed in 2025, payment is not required until the City of Prior Lake | 4646 Dakota Street SE | Prior Lake MN 55372 Item 5D Page | 2 equipment is delivered in 2026. All city equipment is purchased from the state contract or other cooperative purchasing agencies to ensure best value pricing. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to adopt a resolution authorizing the ordering of 2026 vehicles and equipment. 2. Motion and second to remove this item from the consent agenda for further discussion. ATTACHMENTS: 1.
