AGENDA ITEM: Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Park Furniture at Ponds
Park
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing the purchase of park furniture at Ponds Park.
BACKGROUND:
The table below summarizes the proposed furniture purchase to complement Ponds Park
following the completion of the Phase 2 project, which includes a new park shelter and central
plaza area where additional tables and seating can be added.
It should be noted that the memorial benches included in this purchase will have corresponding
revenue to offset and exceed their purchase price as benches are sponsored through the city’s
Memorial Bench Program.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The 2025 Parks CIP includes $30,000 for the maintenance of the basketball court at Thomas
Ryan Park. With the recent completion of the Miracle Field, and planned improvements to the
playground at Thomas Ryan, staff recommend addressing the basketball court at a later date to
include it with the larger playground project at the park, to coordinate work and minimize
disruptions.
Staff recommend applying this $30,000 towards providing new furniture to be placed at Ponds
Park following the completion of the Phase 2 project, scheduled to be done in the fall of 2025.
This purchase will be coded to account 430-54200.00-55570.00-PRK25-000001 (Machinery &
Equipment). All city equipment is purchased from the state contract or other cooperative
purchasing agencies to ensure best value pricing.

1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to adopt a resolution authorizing the
purchase of Ponds Park furniture.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FURNITURE FOR PONDS PARK

WHEREAS, the 2025 Parks CIP includes $30,000 for basketball court maintenance at
Thomas Ryan Park; and
WHEREAS, staff recommend using this budgeted amount towards site furnishings at Ponds
Park instead, and defering the basketball improvements at Ryan Park to be
completed with the future playground project there; and
WHEREAS, the actual cost for these furnishings is expected to be under budget based on
recent vendor quotes:

WHEREAS, all proposed purchases will be from state contract or other cooperative
purchasing vendors to ensure the best value pricing.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The Mayor and City Manager hereby authorize staff to purchase these items.
3. This purchase will be coded to account 430-54200.00-55570.00-PRK25-000001 (Machinery
& Equipment).

Prices firm for 30 days, subject to review thereafter. Our terms are net 30. A finance charge of 1.5% will be imposed on the outstanding balance unpaid
for more than 30 days after the shipment of materials. Equipment shall be invoiced seperately from other services and shall be payable in advance
of those services and project completion. Retainage not accepted.Once customer has signed quotation, your order cannot be changed or canceled.Please
allow 3to4 weeks for delivery after receipt of order. Standard manufacturing design, specification, and construction apply unless noted otherwise.
Customer is responsible for the identification of all underground utilities. Area must be accessible to Bobcat and other equipment
necessary for installation or additional fees will be charged. Freight quote is based on customer unloading equipment and
checking in all equipment for any missing parts. If product is refused by customer upon delivery for any reason (unless damaged),
without prior authorization from Midwest Playscapes, Inc., the customer agrees to pay 20% restocking fee plus freight charges.
