AGENDA ITEM: Resolution Receiving Quotes and Awarding a Contract for Building
Maintenance at the Wilds Booster Station
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution receiving quotes and awarding a contract for building maintenance at the Wilds
Booster Station.
BACKGROUND:
The Wilds Booster Station previously had an emergency generator located inside the building that
has recently been relocated to the exterior of the building. Fresh air intake louvers were necessary
when the generator was located within the building; these louvers are no longer needed now that
the generator has been moved outside. These existing louvers have been identified as
contributing to uncontrolled air exchange in the building leading to temperature fluctuations,
increased energy consumption, and potential exposure of sensitive equipment to environmental
contaminants. The louvers no longer serve a necessary ventilation function and should be
removed to prevent further negative impacts to the building and equipment.
Staff recently solicited quotes from three companies to remove the louvers and rebuild the walls
with brick. The following two quotes were received:

Jerry Stepka Declined to Quote
Staff recommend Council award a contract to Building Restoration Corporation in the total amount
of $24,441 for the Wilds Booster Station building maintenance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There are sufficient funds in the 2025 Water Utility Fund (601-49400.00-55570.00) to pay for this
project.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to adopt a resolution receiving quotes
and awarding a contract for building maintenance at the Wilds Booster Station.
2. Motion and second to remove this item from the consent agenda for further discussion.

A RESOLUTION RECEIVING QUOTES AND AWARDING A CONTACT FOR BUILDING
MAINTENANCE AT THE WILDS BOOSTER STATION
Motion By: Second By:
WHEREAS, removal of the wall louvers at the Wilds Booster Station will improve the
thermal efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the overall
security and integrity of the building; and
WHEREAS, the louvers no longer serve a necessary ventilation function due to the
relocation of the emergency generator; and
WHEREAS, staff solicited the following quotes to remove the louvers and rebuild the wall
with brick:

Jerry Stepka Declined to Quote
and
WHEREAS, staff recommend Council award a contract to Building Restroration
Corporation in the total amount of $24,441 for this project; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 Water Utility Fund has adequate funding for this project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein.
2. The City Council hereby authorizes the execution of a contract with Building Restoration
Corporation in the amount of $24,441 for the building maintenance at the Wilds Booster
Station.
3. Funding for this project shall come from the Water Utility fund 601-49400.00-55570.00.
