RESOLUTION 26-040 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF REPLACEMENT MOBILE FIELD
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE HELMETS Motion By: Braid Second By: Hellier
WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted Resolution 21-034 authorizing the purchase of protective ballistic helmets for law enforcement use; and WHEREAS, since that time, law enforcement officers have experienced an increase in violent encounters and critical incidents both locally and nationally, requiring enhanced personal protective equipment to ensure officer’s
safety; and WHEREAS, due to manufacturer-recommended service life guidelines, normal wear
and tear, and evolving safety standards, the existing helmets have reached or are nearing the end of their recommended service life; and WHEREAS, replacement of this equipment is necessary to ensure continued officer safety, operational effectiveness, and compliance with current protective equipment standards; and WHEREAS, funding for the replacement of protective ballistic helmets is available within the Police Department’s approved budget and/or designated equipment replacement funds. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA as follows:
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein. 2. City staff is authorized to engage in the purchase with Streicher’s in the amount of $29,563.
3. Funding for this equipment is available within the existing Police Department budgeted training funds for 2026.
