BACKGROUND: The Police Station is served by a central chiller system that is 20 years old and has reached its expected replacement interval. The chiller is designed with four compressors to provide adequate cooling and redundancy for critical building operations. One of the four compressors has failed, significantly reducing system capacity and redundancy. Due to the age of the equipment, replacement parts for the failed compressor are no longer manufactured or supported by the original equipment manufacturer. Continued operation of the existing chiller poses an increasing risk of unexpected outages. Given the critical nature of Police operations, replacement of the chiller is recommended to ensure efficient, reliable cooling for the facility. Staff solicited quotes from eight vendors to replace the chiller. The following four quotes were received: Company Quote Schwickerts-Tecta America $157,090 NAC $170,950 Klamm Mechanical $210,000 Associated Mechanical $166,455 Staff recommend Council award a contract to Schwickerts-Tecta America in the total amount of $157,090 for the chiller replacement. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The 2026 Facilities Management Fund includes $200,000 for these improvements (440- 42100.00-55520.00). ALTERNATIVES: 1. Motion and second as part of the consent agenda to adopt a resolution receiving quotes and awarding a contract for the chiller replacement at the Police Station. 2. Motion and second to remove this item from the consent agenda for further discussion. ATTACHMENTS: 1.
