HomeMy WebLinkAboutJAN 2021_MinutesCEC Committee Meeting Minutes January 21, 2021 Present: Patrick Heaney, Marcia Diers, Kim Churchill, Brad McCarter, Jessica Weber, Dick Felch, Lucy Kender, Wade Larson, Kimberly Clauson Staff: Andy Brotzler, Dave Elbon, Lori Olson Excused: Unexcused: James Speiker , Abby Hafferman Andrea Nelson, Tom Driscoll I Welcome & Introductions Called to order at 4:00 PM. New members from the Business Engagement Committee, which was sunsetted by the Economic Development Authority, introduced themselves. II Annual Report of the Traffic Safety Committee (Andy Brotzler, PW Director/City Engineer) Director Brotzler gave a little background on how recently the committee has become an all staff. He explained that requests are made by phone, email or the website.He talked about the different types of request and how many the committee receives. • Traffic signs such as no parking or stop signs – 10 • Speeding – 4 • Pedestrian Crossing – 3 • Lighting – 1 Director Brotzler shared a map that showed the locations of the requests and gave some examples of stop signs that were installed as a result of community input and traffic studies. He reviewed the 2021 goals of the committee. • Update and replace street name signs • Do a complete inventory of all no parking signs III. Public Works (Andy Brotzler, Public Works Director/City Engineer) Director Brotzler talked about snow plowing priority routes, schedules along with the challenges of cars parking overnight and garbage cans in the street. He explained the new 3 tier trail plowing schedule and the addition of trails that are plowed when time permits. This year, six neighborhood park ice rinks returned to encourage outdoor activity. CEC Committee Meeting Minutes, January 21, 2021 Page 2 IV. 2021 CEC Annual Calendar and Agenda Topics (Lori Olson, Assistant City Manager) Lucy recommended water quality and/or water safety. Jessica recommended recreation programs. Kim recommended Scott County Association of Leadership and Efficiency (SCALE). Lucy recommended some businesses information. Maybe a joint meeting with the EDA. Hocokata Ti Cultural Center tour Kim Churchill suggested a 2-3 minute council wrap up each meeting. Wade asked to look into using more virtual technology to involve more community members. Jessica was curious if we will hear more about vaccine locations. Next meeting is February 18 – Public Safety with Chiefs Frazer & Steinhaus
