Construction anticipated in 2023 2021 Committees & Commissions Arts & Culture Committee STAFF LIAISON: CASEY MCCABE EDA Liaison: Marie Boucher-Hoese Purpose: •Serve as a liaison between City government and the art and culture organizations in the community •Make recommendations to the EDA related to arts and cultural events, installations and initiatives as assigned 2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS •Committee Created •Bylaws •Skate Park Improvements WHAT'S AHEAD •Public Art Criteria & Process 2021 Committees & Commissions Community Engagement Committee STAFF LIAISONS: LORI OLSON & KATIE BENGTSON Council Liaison: Annette Thompson Purpose: •To educate residents about city government and to provide feedback to city leaders on a variety of city issues and projects. 2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS •Water safety and water quality •Cleary Lake Park Master Plan •Full-time FD proposal •Personnel plan & preliminary budget •Public safety •Two new members •Liaison to the EDA WHAT'S AHEAD •Cora McQuestion Spirit of Prior Lake Award •Lakefront Park Advisory Committee 2021 Committees & Commissions Economic Development Authority STAFF LIAISONS: CASEY MCCABE & JASON WEDEL Council Liaisons: Zach Braid & Kirt Briggs Purpose: •Promote the development and redevelopment of retail, commercial, and industrial properties in Prior Lake to diversify the city's tax base. 2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS •COVID Restaurant Assistance •Mixed-use redevelopment opportunities for Downtown South •Acquired two properties to facilitate redevelopment •Identified developer for Dakota St. SE mixed-use redevelopment •Arts & Culture Committee TECHNOLOGY VILLAGE BOARD OF DIRECTORS •Transition of the Prior Lake Technology Village program to the Scott County Center for Entrepreneurship •5th Annual Fast-Track Business Challenge 2021 Committees & Commissions Planning Commission STAFF LIAISONS: JEFF MATZKE & SANDY PEPPIN Council Liaison: Zach Braid Purpose: •Advises the City Council on issues involving the establishment and enactment of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, zoning, subdivisions, and sign ordinances. 2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS •13 public hearings •Recommended zoning actions for 7 plats totaling over 250 residential units and 3 commercial projects •Acted upon 6 variance applications and 6 conditional use permits •Deliberated ordinance amendments to City Zoning Code New Residential Plats •Parkwood (55 lots) Ryan Real-estate, Brandl Anderson •Springview Meadows (41 lots) D.R. Horton •The Villas at Crest Woods (60 lots) Chadwick property •Shimek property (20 lots) New Commercial Projects •Lil’ Explorers Daycare •Kiehm/Tupy Garage Condos •Messenbrink Storage buildings Tobacco Ordinance •The City Council approved an update to the City’s tobacco ordinance on April 5th •The update includes a ban on all flavored vaping products except for menthol and tobacco flavors •The ban went into effect on August 15th Pickleball Courts •The City Council authorized the construction of pickleball courts at Spring Lake Park fall of 2021 •Grading work and tree planting were completed prior to winter weather temporarily halting construction •Paving, fencing, and remaining work were completed spring of 2021.
