Molly advised that Alex Durrence alexdurrence@co.scott.mn.us will be taking Connie Gebur’s place as point of contact for meeting coordination, emails etc. moving forward. Date: September 20, 2023 Time: 5:00 pm Location: Prior Lake City Hall ACTION ITEMS CHARTER FOLLOW UP: Group discussed changes to the Charter including correcting Jason Wedel’s title on the document and the name of the Prior Lake house as there were multiple names in the charter. The name is Prior Lake Transformation House. Once the changes to the charter are made, it will be routed for signatures and the final signed version will be posted on the city of Prior Lake website. PUBLIC MEETING: Discussion about scheduling the yearly public meeting that will be open to neighbors from the neighborhood. Decision was made to have the meeting on Wednesday, November 15th from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Jason will see if the building at Lakefront Park is available, if not, the meeting will be held at the Prior Lake City Hall. Lakefront was identified as the closest meeting space to the neighborhood that can accommodate both a larger group and an indoor meeting space. The agenda items identified for the meeting include: • Pictures of the inside and outside of the Prior Lake house. • Update on referrals. • Update from the Prior Lake police department regarding any calls they have received regarding the house. • Damascus Way will provide information regarding programming at the house and what their experience has been. Matt will send out an email communication to the neighbors to solicit questions from the neighbors. A flyer with the meeting information will be put together and sent out and posted on the city of Prior Lake’s website. SITE VISIT: Discussion about scheduling another site visit for the group. No one felt that another site visit was necessary at this point. NEIGHBORHOOD GROUP EMAIL: Discussion about the group email that had been mentioned in a prior meeting and reflected in the meeting notes. Matt advised that there is no approved, sanctioned email for the neighborhood group. However, all information from these meetings including the meeting minutes are posted on the city of Prior Lake’s website. OTHER: Chief Duggan reported that they have received zero calls to/regarding the Prior Lake Transformation house. Molly provided an update regarding referrals since May. There have been 7 referrals made to Damascus Way. Referrals are made to Damascus Way, not to a specific house. Damascus Way then works with Scott County staff and the client to determine which house they will be residing at (depending on availability at the houses as well as agreed criteria specific to the Prior Lake house). There were 12 clients screened by Scott County for the houses but 5 were not referred due to multiple reasons including clients not being interested to clients finding different/alternative housing options. The Prior Lake house has served 4 clients since it’s opening. Of those 4, 1 client remains at the home, 1 client successfully secured housing and 2 clients left the house by their choice. There is another client that will be joining the Prior Lake home likely in the next week or so. Craig provided some updates from the house. Damascus Way is in the process of putting their staff through training to be Peer to Peer supports for clients. In the Peer-to-Peer support model, the staff can utilize their own experiences to support clients. Clients respond well to this model as the support people have had similar life experiences, so they are able to share what has worked for them in their sobriety and offer support for clients as they navigate theirs. They hope to launce the Peer-to-Peer support in January. Scott County Employment and Training came to the Prior Lake house to meet with staff to discuss how they can partner to support the clients in the house. There are different services that clients can access including job coaching, educational opportunities, and funding for transportation. In addition, there are employers that do onsite applications/interviews at the Workforce Center that clients can connect with. Craig advised that staff from Damascus Way met with staff at the Workforce Center to learn the process a client would go through in accessing their services. The group asked Craig how transportation currently works at the house. He advised that some clients have their own vehicles, Damascus staff has a vehicle at the house that they can transport clients with, some client carpool and some will walk/bike. Craig advised that some clients have also assisted in building ramps for veterans by assembling and installing them. ACTION ITEM FOLLOW UP 1. Molly’s staff will make changes to the charter and then route it for signatures. 2. Jason will verify that the Lakefront building is available for the meeting November 15th, if not, the meeting will be held at Prior Lake City Hall. 3. Molly’s staff will put a flyer together for the public meeting on November 15th and send it to Matt and Jason for distribution and posting on the city of Prior Lake website. 4. Matt will gather questions that the neighbors have for the November 15th meeting. NEXT MEETING November 15th 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Lakefront Park or Prior Lake City Hall
