Northwoods Leaw - Jack Haugen did an overview of the attached City Council Agenda Report regarding the Northwoods League. Jack reiterated that the city will pay zero money towards Memorial and Ryan improvements. Money will come from a private donor and Joel Kramer. Mike Feriancek pointed out that this would coincide with the PAR Task Force #1 goal which was to maximize our current resources. There will be a town hall meeting to discuss the Northwoods League on Monday, 8/21 at 6pm at the Prior Lake Fire Station. All PAC members are encouraged to attend this town hall meeting. If the PAC members can not attend they should email their notes/letter to Mike Feriancek so he can present it at the town hall meeting. Watzls Boat Slins - Angie Barstad reported that there was only 3 or 4 reservations total this summer for the boat slips. Al Friedges confirmed the boat slips are definitely being used. They are being used on the "first come, first serve" basis. Angie Barstad recommended that we make all boat slips open on a "first come, first serve" basis, versus having half being by reservation and half being open, and completely remove the reservation system from the Watzls Boat Slips. All PAC members agreed with this. Angie will put together an agenda report with this recommendation for the City Council. Jeffers Plav Structure - Al Friedges stated this play structure was installed 2 weeks ago with curb being installed this week. This structure is 100% handicap accessible. This project will be completely done within the next 2 weeks. As a side note Al Friedges added that the rod iron fencing around the Sand Point Beach play structure is nearly complete and that it was done completely in house, which saved the city www.cityofpriorlake.com Phone 952.447.4230 / Fax 952.447.4245 thousand of dollars. Al invited all PAC members out to Sand Point to view the beautiful new structure and fence. Trail & Sidewalk Proiect Uodate - Al Friedges stated all the projects are completed for 2006. Some of these projects include: 6,000 -7,000 feet of trail at Jeffers Pond, sidewalks installed at Woods in the Wilds, etc. There was an issue with the bituminous material not setting up properly at Jeffers. A private testing company will be hired to check the cause of this issue. Lakefront Davs - Al Friedges discussed parking issues he encountered during Lakefront Days. AI felt that the 2006 Lakefront Days event was probably the most heavily attended Lakefront Days event since it began. Changing the vendor parking to the Heritage Farm site helped out quite a bit with parking issues in the park. Al and his staff have already had a "Lakefront Recap" meeting to discuss what worked/did not work in order to further improve the running of Lakefront Days in 2007. Per all PAC members, everything ran very smoothly during Lakefront Days and that is due in large part to Al Friedges and his staff. Summer & Fall Activities Overview - Angie Barstad stated there were quite a few kids that came through the city summer park and rec programs during the summer of 2006. Everyone had a great time this summer. The tot lot/playground staff and some children were in the Lakefront Days parade this summer. Some trips coming up are: Twins Game, State Fair, Como Zoo, and Family Beach Day at Sand Point. Angie stated that the 2006 Autumn Gathering will be held on 10/7/06 at Lakefront Park from 2 - 4pm. Look for more information in the future on this fun family event. 2006 PAC Goals - Mike Feriancek reviewed the PAC goals for 2006. The PAC will continue to work on and give status updates on all goals. Note: Al Frieges informed the PAC that the Prior Lake Police Department caught the person they believe is responsible for breaking into the Ponds concession building. A 17 year old juvenile male was caught in the Ponds concession building on Friday, 8/11, when he tripped the silent alarm at the Ponds. PAC and staff members would like the following agenda items added to the September PAC meeting: DeerfieId Park, Lakefront restoration, Skate Park Attendance, Heritage Committee Update, PAC Goals Update, Canoe/Kayak Rack Update The next meeting will be the on September 11th, 2006 at 6:00 pm at the Maintenance Center Todd Loose motioned to adjourn the meeting, Dick Carlson second, approved. Meeting adjourned, 8:05 pm
