ATTENDEES Chair Warner called the Lake Advisory Committee (LAC) meeting to order at 6:09 p,m. Members present: Dale Braddy, Shirley Gengler and Rick Warner. Members absent: Charles Gerlach and Lauren Huntington. Others present: Mike Gundlach and Lani Leichty. II. LAKE TOUR The lake tour took off from Gengler's house at 6:09 p.m, Six areas that were identified in the shoreland erosion feasibility study were visited. They were: 1) Sand Point Park, 2) Lakefront Park, 3) Fairbanks Trail, 4) Railroad Crossing, 5) Grainwood Trail, and 6) Linden Circle, There was also shoreline erosion noticed along the southern portion of Twin Isle. III. SAND POINT PARK PROJECT UPDATE Leichty mentioned that the project had been started and should be finished in a week or two. The coconut fiber logs had been staked in-place, mulch placed and the plantings were to go in on Saturday, June 23,2001, IV. MILFOIL MANAGEMENT There was discussion about this year's milfoil budget and what activities should be planned with the money available. The idea of producing another issue of Water Watch, financed through the milfoil fund, was debated. A concern was raised that the newsletter should focus on Eurasian milfoil, since that is what the original assessment was intended for, Members asked if there was a way to change how the milfoil fund money could be used, if it could be used for other projects in the watershed or on other weed treatments. A couple suggestions for projects were carp seining and curly leaf weed control. MOTION BY WARNER, SECONDED BY BRADDY, TO HA VE LEICHTY CHECK INTO WHA T THE MILOIL FUND CAN BE USED FOR AND HOW THE DIRECTIVE COULD BE CHANGED TO USE THIS FOR OTHER PROJECTS, BESIDES MIL FOIL, WITHIN THE WA TERSHED. UPON A VOTE, MOTION PASSED UNA NIMO USL Y. Leichty mentioned that the concentration of Eurasian milfoil appears to be less than last year, probably due to the cold weather in the spring. He also stated that the City received extra grant money this year from the DNR. This is because the littoral area in Upper Prior Lake now has milfoil and has been added to the equation used in figuring how much money is 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph.
